"As the creator of the zine, of course, I didn't give myself limits to how many pieces of my own work I could include in the zine. I have drawn much more art of this dog than is shared here, but as for the pieces that are on this site; I wanted to share works I was satisfied with on either a technical, experimental, or personal level. A room full of puppy appliances, a slight mona lisa inspired-piece, decorating a toploader for her and putting a drawing of her inside... I love sinkdog! Her origin was as a fetish object, a creature made to be found titillating by it's creator- why wouldn't something made for appeal draw us all in? Why wouldn't we want to expand on a figure that fascinates us, that invites us like her?"

Torbli

"I think sinkdog is a very sensory peice and I wanted to play into that, the supposed dichotomy of the absurd and the mundane. The lyrics are from "You smell of dead flowers" by vslush which is a song I find compliments those ideas well."

Fish

"I was inspired by the art of Mucha but also wanted to tie in symbols associated with sinks and washing. The yellow birds are there to represent rubber ducks, another positive symbol tied to cleaning like sink dog, and the bubbles that also evoke that positivity."

Motleyblot

"This piece was based on the Midcentury-Modern art style that was prominent from the 1950s-70s. It's one of my favorite graphic design styles and I wanted to give it a shot with Sinkdog!"

"even before i signed up to be part of this zine, i thought it would be really neat to bring sinkdog into the 3d space, so i’m really glad this project gave me the motivation to make her as a doll! ^___^ i decided to photograph her out in nature, and i specifically liked the idea of posing her with flowers of some kind because it made me think of the packaging of floral soaps. i also liked the contrast suggested by placing her outside, like when you run into abandoned appliances and other household objects in places they shouldn’t be."

"sinkdog made me think of this quote from a book called miracle of mindfulness by Thích Nhất Hạnh. It basically says, while washing the dishes, you should be completely aware of the fact that you're washing the dishes. And in doing something so simple with your complete attention, not thinking of getting the dishes over with but really paying attention to your body and mind doing the dishes-- You get a kind of sense of clarity about reality. That it's a miracle to be able to stand at the sink and just wash the dishes. especially if they come out of the sinkdog"

"Do you think it feels good to be Sinkdog? Does it feel good to play with their hardware or does it hurt?"

"every thread and piece is lovingly sewn in just as her original pixels were placed on a digital canvas. thank you to sinkdog for being effortlessly beautiful in every medium and incredibly fun to stew over, you are my mona lisa."

"there's a lot of really cool art depicting sinkdog as a representation for a lot of things, beit disability, kink, etc. If you've ever seen pawberri's schizotypal furry post, sink dog is definitely one, she's the combination of two completely sepearate abstract ideals turned into something coherent. i think my piece tries to capture the inherent silliness of an idea like sink dog, she's cute, she's funny. She's a dog that's a sink and idk i just think that's kinda neat."

"I assume Sinkdog is a hard worker so for both of my pieces I wanted to show her my appreciation by depicting her as relaxed and at peace!"

"One must imagine Sinkdog happy.  I discovered her a few years ago on Tumblr. A wave of calm washed over me when I first saw the drawing. I was instantly obsessed! Sinkdog evokes many feelings: playful, erotic, maybe a little sad.  I've had a lifelong fascination with weird transformation art. Some of it can be quite cruel, featuring an erotic fixation on intense humiliation. This isn't to disparage that art. It's awesome to see the diversity of human sexuality. We're also entering a time of puritanical censorship against certain expressions of sexuality, and I don't want to stoke that fire. Rather, I want to highlight a stark contrast between Sinkdog's depiction and that of other fetish art. The drawing is imbued with a sense of peace by her passive posture and active gaze. She invites you into her space, as if she's offering to wash the dishes for you. How nice! I thought it would be nice if she took a break from sink duties and had a little day out on the town. To (loosely) quote Marge Simpson: I just think she's neat!"

"I've only heard of Sinkdog this year from a friend, and I found the fans' vigor fascinating. I decided to jumble a totally nonsensical & misanthropic scenario to write & draw. Hope you enjoy!"

"Sinkdog spends an idyllic summer afternoon by the water, catching fish"

"i've always resonated with the readings of sinkdog with disability. starting out, i just had the vague idea of wanting to convey a feeling that comes with living with disability. the idea grew on its own, and it became this cute little thing with more beaks and feathers than i anticipated. the goal of making it in 48 hrs was part of wanting to rebel against instincts of perfectionism and any ideas of living up to the standard of a “good film”, which felt in line with the theme. the work was technically done over the span of many days, but if the hours are added up then it’s still under the 48 hr mark, which is good enough for me. Watch it on youtube here!

"Is Sinkdog a commercially available object? What would Sinkdog's advertisement look like? I wanted to explore 'serving your purpose' under capitalism through Sinkdog."

feintenstein

"I've chosen to draw her sweet and a little antique. Much like her beloved presence on the internet!"

Rexalogy

"Sinkdog is often depicted in solitary pin-up form. Here a woman presents a curious situation outside of Sinkdog's scope for finding pleasure in clean mechanism and simple task-completion."

"I wanted to see her angular"

newtcookie

"I collected photos of my friends' favorite mugs, because I love making coffee or tea from my friends and not being upset at all that I have to do dishes after! I wanted sinkdog to feel that way too. The mug she is drinking from is mine!"

Spaceiscoolyo

"I love Sinkdog because they are such a unique creature. Despite being a girl shaped dog, they’re also a sink. A living appliance. I loved the idea of Sinkdog being made with a purpose: being a dog and being a sink. I’ve always loved transformation art, especially when it’s used for self-actualization. Basically I wanted to draw a depressed person slowly become self-actualized as a happy Sinkdog. I was happy for the opportunity to contribute. Thanks, y’all! "

"seemed like a good way of depicting an aspect of disabled life that dosent often get mechanical representation in this medium "

"LYRICS:"

"i sat sheltered in ceramics,

patient practiced movements,

followed through,

silent exhalations,

noise is not needed,

though you are needed,

though, pants, warbles, are nothing new

nothing is ""needed"" but,

chorus

utter still unless there is something to do

and an object is used or left unused

purpose laid out for the rest of eternity

clean and sparkling, still buttoned by moisture

there is no discomfort, no tragedy to it

stay close

there is no tragedy

verse 1 repeats

chorus

utter still unless there is something to do

and an object is used or left unused

purpose laid out for the rest of eternity

clean and sparkling, still buttoned by moisture

there is no discomfort, no tragedy to it

but there is a difference between purpose and destiny

verse 2 (sorta) x2

now made biforate, by strangers eyes, that translated

form to form, and rule to reality,

extended depictions, censored inscriptions,

archived carefully,

translated;

rule to reality, and reality to rule,

expanded;

perfection to ruin, mess morphs to meaning

microbes, paws receding, water teeming

countertop, sleep rough, wake up, ruff

its a becoming, its unbecoming

paws on top, of where a heart would be

water emptying out where a heart would beat

not from unreal to reality, from unreal to unreal physicality, across as many screens as hold her, across as many hearts that know her

footsteps echo now, the world ever expands,

across as many screens as hold her, across as many hearts that know her

sat sheltered in ceramics,

patient practiced movements,

followed through,

silent exhalations,

pencil scratches, and keyboard taps

transferred again, heart to heart, both former and latter"
