Originally uploaded to deviantart by daleport996, sinkdog is a dog that is also a sink. She is depicted lying supine on a countertop, displaying the sink in her torso to the viewer. Long, dark hair falls down her shoulders, despite the fact that the rest of her body appears chromatic and made of stainless steel, much like the hollow basin in her body. The (her?) faucet is turned on. Soapy bubbles pool around the perimeter of the sink. In one hand, she holds a plate, with a dishrag in the other, implying that you just walked in on her doing the dishes. Her subtle smile and eyes peering just out of frame are almost beguiling; is she just regarding you politely, or inviting you to help her?
These are the thoughts that have compelled myself and many others to be drawn to this seemingly innocuous piece of art. What looks like a fairly simple yet slightly absurd digital drawing became a niche and fascinating part of furry art history.
